hello,
thanx everybody who gave advice on Outlook Express 6: Error no: 0x800C013E. My solution was a summary of all your answers:
1. locate the mail folders in your system (all folders are stored as *.dbx files)
2. rename the following system files: pop3uid.dbx, folders.dbx, and if the inbox, sent or trash is corrupt, also the inbox.dbx etc. into something like *.old or copy them to another directory to save them.
3. When you delete folders.dbx you will have to sort your mail folders afterwards into your old structure because all mail folders will appear on the main level. This is an easy job with just drag-and-drop in OE.
4. If you have filtering or sorting rules for your inbox, you have to set the links to your special inboxes again, that is easy, too, because the rest of the filtering rule is still there.
5. All renamed or deleted system files will be restored by next program start. In my case only the deletion of *all* the mentioned files helped.
6. It seems to help some people to empty their huge mail folders or just compress the folders from time to time.
7. I found it helpful to read http://www.tomsterdam.com
8. I wonder what the reason for all this heck is, MS doesn’t give any hint why this error might occur.
good luck
Volker
